Commonwealth 2014: Sri Lanka opens medal account with Silver

Captain of Sri Lankan Commonwealth contingent, Sudesh Peiris has won a silver for lifting in the men’s 62kg weight category. Sri Lanka’s Sudesh Peiris won silver with 273kg (123+150).
The gold medal was won by Cyprus’ Dimitris Minasidis with a total lift of 276kg ahead of Sudesh Peiris of Sri Lanka, 3kg behind.


Dimitris Minasidis won the men’s 62kg category in the evening session, snatching 125kg and clean and jerking 151kg for a total of 276kg.
Samoan weightlifter, Vaipana Ioane won bronze in the 62kg class. Vaipava Ioaneclaimed bronze with 271kg (115+156).
The game was held at Scottish Exhibition And Conference Centre.
